BJØRN Floating Sauna was founded by Stephen Aylward and Thea Frelsøy, partners in life and in vision. Rooted in the rich sauna culture of Scandinavia and inspired by the beauty of Australia’s waterways, BJØRN was created to bring people closer. to nature, to themselves, and to each other.

Stephen’s path began in Oslo, where he worked as a sauna master with one of the city’s leading floating sauna companies. With a background in TV and creative industries, he brings fresh energy to sauna design and experience, blending authenticity with a sense of community.

Thea, born and raised in Norway, carries a lifelong passion for wellness, mental health, and design. Trained as an Art Director, she brings her eye for detail and her holistic outlook on life into the heart of BJØRN. Together, their complementary skills shape a business that is as thoughtful as it is unique.

Our mission is simple: to share the health, joy, and connection that sauna culture has brought to Scandinavia, reimagined for Australian shores. With a wood-fired floating sauna drifting along the river, BJØRN is more than a place to sweat; it’s a sanctuary to breathe, to rest, and to reset.
